The Spiritual Exercises
of Saint Ignatius Loyola

Alumni are invited to make the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius Loyola. The actual spiritual exercises are a series of meditations and prayers for a period of thirty days according to a definite order, beginning with God's plan for the world, and continuing with that plan as presented and lived by Jesus Christ. Very few people can set aside a whole unbroken month to follow this program.

St. Ignatius himself realized that there was a need to adapt these exercises for busy people. He proposed a method in which the exercises could be experienced over a period of a few months, one a day, under the guidance of a spiritual director meeting approximately once a week with the exercitant.

Some McQuaid alums, parents and faculty members have already gone through these "Exercises in Daily Life" during the past 10 or 12 years. Other alumni have expressed an interest in making the exercises in this manner. If you would like to learn more about this without assuming any obligation, please contact Edward F. Salmon, S.J., superior, McQuaid Jesuit Community, and faculty/staff chaplain; or Francis J. McNamara, S.J., McQuaid's alumni chaplain.
