Charles Taillie Jr., '61, who died on Saturday, January 8, 2005. Obituary, wake and
funeral information is as follows:
Taillie
Jr., Charles (Bud) PH.D, Peacefully in his sleep, January 8, 2005. Predeceased
by his father, Charles Taillie Sr. Beloved son of Marcella J. Taillie; loving
brother of Sharon Pagliarulo; niece, Rebbecca Pagliarulo; great-nephew, Hudson
Lewis; several Taillie cousins; special friends, Ganapati Patil and family; and
several associates at Penn State. Charles was a graduate of McQuaid Jesuit High
School, University of Rochester, Cornell University and Penn State University.
He was at Penn State for 30 years. He was the founding research associate of
the Penn State Center for Statistical Ecology and Environmental Statistics in
the Department of Statistics. He was also the founding managing editor of the
international cross-disciplinary journal, Environmental and Ecological
Statistics. He has been co-editor of four published volumes on statistical
ecology and statistical distributions in scientific work. He has been an
author/co-author of over one hundred and fifty research publications &
statistical ecology, environmental statistics, and surveillance geoinformatics.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 16 at 11 a.m. at St.
Cecelia's Church, Rochester, NY. Donations may be made in Bud's memory to
Charles Taillie Memorial Fund and sent to Deans Office, Eberly College of
Science, 430 Thomas Building, Penn State University, University Park, PA,
