Frank X. Oberkoetter '58
June 26, 2006

In your prayers, please remember the soul of Frank X. Oberkoetter. Mr. Oberkoetter is a 1958 McQuaid Jesuit alumnus and brother of Robert, ’60. Obituary, wake and funeral information is as follows:

Oberkoetter, Frank X., ALBANY Frank X. Oberkoetter passed away in the company of his family on June 26, 2006 following a brief illness. He was born in Peoria, Ill. and raised in Rochester, N.Y. Frank graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School, the University of Notre Dame and Simmons College School of Social Work. He served in the Air Force and then began his career within the NYS Department of Health. Frank was predeceased by his father, Frank F. Oberkoetter of Rochester, N.Y. He is survived by his mother, Virginia Oberkoetter; his loving wife, June Richardson; son, Kyle; daughter, Kelsy and daughter, Kristen O'Sullivan of London, England; brothers, Robert (Barbara) Oberkoetter, S. Dartmouth, Mass., William (Marjorie) Oberkoetter, Rochester, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews. He enjoyed the company of many friends and reveled in spirited debate on most any subject. He held grand master points in bridge and was an avid reader. Frank's two passions in life were his wife and children, and his deeply ingrained love and appreciation of nature, having learned wilderness skills during summers spent with his brothers at Camp Beaver in the Adirondacks. One of his fondest memories was of working and exploring in Glacier National Park. As a resident of Albany, he hiked and canoed the Adirondacks, always looking forward to the challenge of route finding and bushwhacking deep in the woods. He loved the view from a high peak, the glide of a well-paddled canoe, a night in the woods with his children and friends and the comfort of a good fire. He leaves his friends and family with many treasured memories of shared outdoor adventures. Frank's enthusiasm will be missed by so many in so many ways. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. Memorial service will be held Friday 10 a.m. at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 916 Western Ave., Albany. Those wishing to remember Frank in a special way may send a contribution to Adirondack Mountain Club, P.O. Box 2116 Esp. Sta., Albany, NY 12220 or the Nature Conservancy, NY Chapter, 265 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Mount Kisco, NY 10549.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
