In your prayers, please remember the soul of Mr. Harry A. Ashworth. Obituary, wake and funeral information is as follows:


Born in Rochester, NY. He was a graduate of McQuaid Jesuit High School, Class of 1961, received a B.S. degree in Physics from the University of Rochester, and a Ph.D. in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University. A professor of physics at Seton Hall University from 1970 until his retirement in 2002, he served as Department Chair for several years, as Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and held visiting appointments during sabbatical years at Princeton University and the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center in Edison. As founder of the Astronomy program at Seton Hall, he built the University’s first observatory with several students in the early 1970’s. He co-authored two technical texts, and co-authored with various colleagues and students many refereed articles on topics including Electronics, Instrumentation, and bio-Physics, but was best known on campus for his large lecture classes with demonstrations in the Astronomy and Physics for Science Majors courses. In recent years, he continued his association with Seton Hall as an enthusiastic contributor to the Center for Applied Catalysis. He and his wife of 40 years, lived in East Hanover, N.J. for nearly thirty years, before moving to Summit, N.J. in 2004. He is survived by his wife Norma of Summit, N.J., his brother-in-law Daniel Altre of Fairport NY, a niece Gretchen Kerber of Rochester, his sister-in-law Maria Kerber of Buffalo NY, his Uncle and Aunt, Mr. and Mrs. George Ashworth of Oriskany, N.Y., several cousins, nephews and nieces and their families in the upstate New York area. A Memorial Mass will be held at the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J., on Friday, September 8, 2006 at 10 a.m. Visitation is at the Preston Funeral Home, South Orange on Thursday, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
