Mr. George C. Monagan

In
your prayers, please remember the soul of Mr. George C. Monagan, who died on
Friday, May 20, 2005. Mr. Monagan is the father of George Monagan, ’75. He was
the first lay faculty member in McQuaid’s history and the school’s first
Director of Physical Education. Obituary, wake and funeral information is as
follows:
Monagan, George C. CANANDAIGUA: Formerly of
Penfield, died May 20, 2005, at age 79. Predeceased by his wife Joan, in 2002.
George is survived by 4 children, Ellen Monagan, Susan (William) Neubauer,
George (Annie Martel) Monagan, Joanne (David) Dean;7 grandchildren, Emily,
Luke, Katrina, Dave, Anastasia, Caileigh, and Olivia; sister, Patricia Pearson;
and special friend, Ann Marie Johnson. George was a teacher and coach in the
Penfield School System from 1950 to 1954. He then moved to McQuaid High School
and was Athletic Director from 1954 to 1962. He retired as Professer Emeritus
and Athletic Director of Monroe Community College in 1988, after 26 years of
service. He was a WWII Navy veteran. Friends may call at Jennings, Nulton&
Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Rd., Wednesday and Thursday 5-8 P.M. The
Funeral Mass will be held Friday 10:00 A.M. at St. Januarius Church, 180 N.
Main St., Naples. Interment, Oakwood Cemetery, Penfield. Contributions may be
directed to the Joan and George Monagan Scholarship Fund at MCC.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let
perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen. |
