From McQuaid Jesuit Principal Bill Hobbs This morning, a very beloved and long serving member of the McQuaid Jesuit school family passed away. Mr. Gerry Pashby, who has served McQuaid Jesuit since 1968, returned home to his Heavenly Father after several weeks in the hospital. To quote the Phoenix, the history of the first 25 years of McQuaid Jesuit’s history, “In the eyes of many, Jerry is the most prodigious of McQuaid’s unsung assets. Eye has not seen nor ear heard how many young men in trouble have been referred by teachers to Jerry, wisely knowing that they have come upon a problem too complex for a well intentioned amateur to handle, and completely confident that the boy is now in the hand of a competent and utterly compassionate professional.” Jerry’s sense of cura personalis, his care for the young men of McQuaid Jesuit will not easily be replaced. The students, faculty and staff, and the families of McQuaid Jesuit will sorely miss his gentle and quiet presence. Requiescat in pace.
